In college I studied both political science and economics so I particularly enjoyed watching this video by an economist who moonlights as a stand up comedian. His name is Yoram Bauman. An economist who is funny? That's right.
Watch it; it really is funny. I have a lot of admiration for somebody who is willing to take a risk like this. Think about it. A stand up comedian has to get up in front of a live audience, give it his best shot, and then see what happens.
The feed back is immediate. Not funny? It will be painfully clear to everyone exactly how you are doing. Nobody is going to give you a break and "laugh politely."
The next time your fear of failure holds you back, move forward anyway. What you are doing just can't be any more risky or fear inducing than trying to convince an audience that economists are funny.
